#Drawaline to end violence against women and girls
What is the 16 Days campaign?
From November 25th (the International Day to End Violence Against Women and Girls) to December 10th, UN Women NC UK is drawing a line to end violence. In the UK, 1 in 4 women are affected by violence – elsewhere in the world, violence affects as many as 3 in 4 women. Violence against women and girls is a line that must not be crossed, and during the 16 days of activism we want you to join us to raise awareness of the issue and #drawaline.
Lighting a brighter future
Throughout the 16 days of activism, UN Women and our partners around the world will light up iconic buildings in orange, to symbolise a brighter future without violence. In the UK, we will be using billboards and landmarks to #drawaline around the country and to add to the orange beacons around the world. We are also creating a digital line on the web, where you will be able to draw your own line too. Stay tuned for more details around this exciting campaign.
On Sunday December 10th, UN Women NC UK is partnering with Action Breaks Silence and Fusion Lifestyle to host a self-defence workshop in London. The aim is to empower attendees, giving them practical skills and confidence to protect themselves, while raising awareness of violence against women and girls. All proceeds will go towards both UN Women NC UK and Action Breaks Silence. We would love to see you there – you can find the full details and book tickets here.
