Safe Spaces Now Bystander Intervention Training

“I found the workshop eye opening, I’d never seen things from a woman’s perspective before.”

“I feel confident that I know when and how to support someone who is being harassed.”

“It really made me stop and think about how I can help”

“I’m confident to know how to take action without making the situation worse”

“I hadn’t realised that it’s small things that I can do that make a big difference”

For the first time ever, UN Women UK is opening up its flagship Safe Spaces Now Bystander Intervention training to members of the public and organisations who want to support their teams in going beyond words to playing an active role in ending violence against women and girls.

The new Safe Spaces Now Active Bystander training takes participants through:

  • Understanding of what sexual harassment and violence is, why it happens and how to identify it
  • How to be an active bystander in a way that respects the autonomy of the individual being targeted and also keeps both the person intervening and the target safe
  • A series of scenarios where they can practice what they have learned so that they are ready to take action in their daily lives
